When you are one of the largest retail chains, you serve 20 cities of Georgia with 12 stores and you have the largest dealer network, monitoring the business, evaluating the activity from every angle, becomes a difficult and at the same time critical task. Megatechnica is one of the first companies in the Georgian market, which has responded to this issue with technological progress and introduced a modern business analysis system in partnership with BDO.

When traditional approaches are no longer enough

Megatechnica, like all similar companies, constantly monitors various indicators of the network, such as sales, profitability, the need for supplies, customer behavior. There are many such indicators and reports, and the traditional methods of obtaining them are labor and time-consuming and often inconsistent with modern reality. Typically, the process is as follows: extracting data from different sources, merging them into Excel, and then converting them into diagrams and tables to get the desired report.

“When you run such a large retail chain, it is critical to get timely business information to make operational and strategic decisions. In some cases, the data from two or three days ago is already irrelevant, delayed. Traditional reporting here is weak, it takes a lot of time and effort to prepare reports, a small alteration in the data may make it necessary to start the reporting process completely over again. The bigger the business, the more data is collected and, often, standard software can not handle this data. In addition, traditional reporting is not interactive and it is difficult to see the whole picture,” says Nino Gabunia, director of Megatechnica.

Modern business analytics, also known as Business Intelligence system

Megatechnica has introduced a modern business analytics system in partnership with BDO.

“Business analytics system collects the data scattered in different accounting systems of the company, puts them into order and gives them specific structure. All the parameters and indicators that are necessary to evaluate the company’s activity 360 degrees are determined and then automatic, dynamic, and interactive reports are created, ” says Irina Kvakhadze, Director of Data Analysis at BDO.

BDO used MS Power BI, a Microsoft product, as a business analytics tool with Megatechnica. The company now receives constantly updated reports in one space at the touch of a button, making the required report easily accessible to all employees. These reports are interactive and dynamic, which means you can easily filter, compare, and see different indicators in more detail.

360-degree observation of business in live mode

The introduction of a business analytics system means that as of today the company is able to keep track of all the indicators it needs in live mode, to know what the results of business activities are every day – sales, results of marketing actions, the efficiency of stores, profitability.

“We have introduced parameters such as customer retention rate in Megatechnica. Megatechnica can also see the correlation between two different products and how one of them determines the purchase of the other. It is really rich information, ” says Irina Kvakhadze.

More time for analytics

The time that was usually spent on preparing reports will now be spent on analytical activities, analysis of indicators, and timely decision-making. This system has many benefits.

“We received advice from the BDO team on what data should we store and how, what parameters should we add in order to further analyze the results of our activities, monitor the market, and know what our customers need,” says Nino Gabunia, Director of Megatechnica.
